Our students from The One Academy have bagged so many Rookie Awards this year!  The Rookie Awards is one of the world’s most renowned digital skills competition for aspiring creatives in games, animation, visual effects, immersive media, motion graphics and 3D visualization.  It is the place for up-and-coming artists to show off their skills and showcase their amazing artworks and projects. This year’s award season garnered 4,400 entries from international digital artists worldwide, with winners selected by a diverse judging panel of 150+ experts.

The Rookie Awards has finally announced their winners from three major categories – Rookie of the Year - Immersive Media, Game of the Year and Rookie of the Year - Product Design. Winning a Rookie Award paves the pathway to a bright future for students as it is highly recognized in the industry. The exposure and experience that students can gain as well as the opportunity to compete with artists from all around the world is extremely gratifying.

Law Yan Ming was crowned winner of Rookie of the Year- Immersive Media category for her entry “Malaya Quest”, an AR interactive game created for children to learn the history of Malaysia. The Runner Up for the same category went to Leow Wey Chung, for his project “Rise of Métier”, a hand tracking VR game. Rookie of the Year - Immersive Media, People’s Choice was awarded to Christen Chong Yi Qi for her entry, Teng Hong Gong AR, an interactive AR language app for people to learn Malaysian Cantonese.

The Rookie Award for Game of the Year - Runner Up went to Cecilia Kuan Jing Yi for her amazing work on “Nutrifood”, an interactive AR educational toolkit aimed to educate young children and raise awareness about maintaining and improving their eating habit.

The Rookie of the Year- Product Design, People’s Choice Award was given to Tan Joey for her masterpiece “Cabina de Sofá”, a multi-functional space saving couch design.

In addition to our winners, six of The One Academy students’ projects were also Highly Commended by the Rookies in this year’s competition, out of over thousands of entries.

This year’s Rookie Awards had several entries from 91 countries all around the world, from a total of 523 different schools evaluated by well-known industry masters. It is safe to say that the competition this year was intense. Nevertheless, our students from The One Academy managed to not only win honourable awards but gain recognition for their well-thought-out projects as well.

The passion, imagination, and incredible talent of these students have proven to be one of the best in the world. Congratulations to our students, you’ve won a golden ticket to kickstart your careers, this is a proud moment for us all!
