Three Graphic Design & Illustration Degree students won RM5000 of 2nd Place at the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2011 Dare to Dream Challenge; an event that was jointly organised by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) and the Malaysian Green Technology (Green Tech) with the collaboration of the Ministry of Higher Education to promote environmental causes using youths’ creative ideas. The team named Triple L submitted an entry entitled "Photosynthesis Eco Air Condition"; a concept about applying functions of plants into an air conditioner.
The team completed the project remarkably in three days. The most challenging part was to have confidence in believing that their brilliant idea would be able to win. With much support & team effort, they strived through and eventually grabbed second place!
The creative works were judged by the renowned & respectable panel which consist of Chief Judge of competition, YM Raja Ruziah binti Raja Tun Uda- Advisor & Honorary Member of the World Crafts Council Asia Pacific; Abdul Aziz Long- President of Environmental Management & Research Association of Malaysia (ENSEARCH), Abdul Razak Abdul Aziz- Chief Emagineering Officer of EMagineers (M) Sdn. Bhd., Dr. Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus- Director of Strategic Development of Radio Television Malaysia, Janet Tee Siew Mooi- Director of National Textile Museum & Department of Museums Malaysia and Nelson Lin Kian On- Photo Editor of China Press.
The team were honoured to have received their awards from YB Puan Noriah Kasnon- Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Malaysia. The winners' artwork was displayed nobly at the exhibition that was held from 7th to 10th September 2011. "Having a continuous a learning habit would make someone successful. As a designer, you need to have patience, creativity and an open mind instead of limiting ourselves all the time," advised the trio on what an aspiring designer should possess.
They thank their lecturers for their dedication in sharing about their design industry experience and on how to use good design references to create winning ideas. The One Academy has often believed in practical teaching approach and ensuring that the students would be at par with world class qualifying works.
