Aspiring Animators Strike Again with Top Asian Award!

In line with The One Academy’s tagline ‘Just World Class Results’, Digital Animation students are often nurtured to join the ranks of professionals to meet world class standards. Bravo!

The One Academy Digital Animation students are often known for their up-to-date digital age minds and cutting edge creative animation talent. Also known for participating and winning at various creative competitions, the DigiCon6 Award is one of the most outstanding awards to be bestowed upon the academy’s digital animation students.

The 15th TBS DigiCon6 Awards is an annual competition held each year to discover and recognise young talents of the new generation throughout Asian counties such as Japan, China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. 3 Malaysian teams, who are The One Academy students, proudly received the recognition in the big Asian competition.



The team Dead Pixel emerged as 1st prize winners for their eccentric animation entitled Death in D Minor; the team members consist of Cheng Weng Kee, Wan Malini Bt. Wan Shamsir, Peh Win Shen, Fong Kheng Wai and Yap Jian Leng. Their stylized-inspired creative work won the judges’ heart. The 2nd prize was bagged by group LOLE, for their thought-provoking animation submission entitled Zzz. The members that were rewarded are, Wong Voon Fei, Kael Ngu Shien Howe, Danny Hung Chen Wai, Yeo Chin Peng, Ng Boon Wei and Low Sze Han. The final team that received the Prize for Effort award is the Rebel Banana group, with team members namely, Phua Cardin, Goh Siau Wei, Yap Wee Lim, Victor Tan Guan Shing, Chua Pei Gin and Chua Pei San. Sharing similar inspirations from Disney blockbusters, the team successfully created an animation with bold and eye catching colours.

Following this success news, another team of The One Academy Alumni, namely, P’ng Yi Wei, Lydia Ho, Tee Zhe Yen and Chen Tzer Ming, also won RM50, 000 grant at the IPCC 2013, a competition aimed to boost local talents by funding multimedia companies & individuals with creative ideas ready for the next level!
